Reminder: July 5 is the Last Day to Begin 180-Day Reporting Requirement
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) would like to remind Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program participants that, as of calendar year (CY) 2024, the electronic health record (EHR) reporting period for new and returning participants is *a minimum of any continuous, self-selected, 180-day period*.
Eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals (CAHs) participating in the Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program must successfully report to avoid a downward payment adjustment.
*For CY 2024, the last day to begin the 180-day reporting period is July 5.*
*In addition to reporting a continuous 180-day EHR reporting period, Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program participants must: *
* Use the ONC health IT certification criteria [ https://www.healthit.gov/topic/certification-ehrs/about-onc-health-it-certification-program ] to meet the Certified EHR Technology (CEHRT) requirement;
* Report and attest to the required objectives and their measures for the required EHR reporting period, as well as the Safety Assurance Factors for EHR Resilience (SAFER) Guides measure, the Security Risk Analysis (SRA) measure; the Actions to Limit or Restrict Compatibility or Interoperability of CEHRT attestation; and the ONC Direct Review Attestation;
* Satisfy the minimum score requirement of 60 points; and
* Report on the Safe Use of Opioids Electronic Clinical Quality Measure (eCQM), the Severe Obstetric Complications eCQM; and the Cesarean Birth eCQM, plus 3 self-selected eCQMs (for a total of six eCQMs).
