Summary

Kion, formerly known as cloudtamer, will undergo browser permissions changes on* July 29, 2024 *to improve features for CMS customers. This change will be made internally, and AWS permissions will not be altered as a result of this upgrade. 

Background

Kion, which manages customer access to various AWS accounts, will undergo the permissions changes to improve value and efficiency to customers on *July 29. 2024*. This upgrade will be included in all of the latest versions of Kion. Following the upgrade, customers will experience the updates and improvements automatically. Customers are encouraged to learn more about Kion here [ https://cloud.cms.gov/cloudtamer-cms-gov ].

The permission changes will provide the following improvements for customers:


* Access to click into/view their Organizational Unit (OU) and projects.
* Visibility into their Cloud Access Roles/Identity and Access Management (IAM Roles) for their OUs/Projects.
* Ability to see what user groups they are a part of for a given OU/Project.

These permission changes will also remove the Financial User Interface (UI) data from Kion:


* Both OU/Project pages will no longer have a financials tab.
* After the upgrade, users should refer to CMS' cost tools [ https://cloud.cms.gov/cost-tools ] for any information related to cloud financials.

Impact

This upgrade is being conducted internally and will not affect customers. Upgrades will be automatically available following this change on* July 29, 2024**.* There will be no customer impacts associated with this change.
