07/19/2024 - DevOps Services Maintenance

*Summary*

*Note:* Due to an unforeseen, industrywide issue with CrowdStrike technology, this change will be postponed to a later date in order to mitigate risks related personal computer issues which may have surfaced, affecting an ability to conduct change validation. 

CMS Cloud will be performing maintenance updates on its DevOps tools.

*Actions we are taking*


* Upgrade nodes to latest EKS gold image for CMS Cloud Jfrog, CBJ and SonarQube
* Upgrade CloudBees Jenkins CI 
* Upgrade EKS and relevant add-ons

*When is this happening?*

Start time: Friday, 07/19/2024 at 9:00 p.m. ET
End time:  Saturday, 07/19/2024 at 1:00 a.m. ET

*Who will be impacted?*
All AWS Commercial and GovCloud customers of CloudBees, JFrog, and SonarQube.

*What is the impact?*
Customers should expect a short downtime for each service as instances are restarted within the maintenance window

*07/21/2024 – BigFix Inventory Patch *

*Summary*

*Note:* Due to an unforeseen, industrywide issue with CrowdStrike technology, this change will be postponed to a later date in order to mitigate risks related personal computer issues which may have surfaced, affecting an ability to conduct change validation. 

Patching of BigFix Inventory to update the IBM catalog and resolve an issue.

*Actions we are taking*

As part of system maintenance, the CMS BigFix team will apply patches to the BigFix Inventory. This patch will resolve an issue with log collection and update the catalog.

*When is this happening?*

Start Time: Sunday, 07/21/2024 at 9:00 A.M. ET

End Time: Sunday, 07/21/2024 at 5:30 P.M. ET

*Who will be impacted?*

 This patch does not impact users and does not require them to take action. It is a vendor-supplied patch needed as part of maintenance to keep the software catalogs updated.

*What is the impact? *

Patching will update the software catalog, and the environment will be at the latest approved release.

*Benefits of the change*

Upon completion of this change, the software catalog will be updated, and the environment will be in compliance.

As part of our normal patching, the CMS Cloud team will apply the latest Windows and Linux patches on Wednesday, 07/24/2024 at 9:00 p.m. ET.  The week's patches will impact the PROD environment for the affected Non-Marketplace applications noted below.

*When is this happening? *

Start Time: Wednesday, 07/24/2024 at 9:00 p.m. ET

End Time:  Thursday, 07/25/2023 at 2:00 a.m ET

*Who will be impacted?*

FFM_Opera, FFM MLMS, FFM SERTS-SERVIS, FFM_TWS, VAMS, CRMS, XES - CyberArk, XES - Service Virtualization, MCIM, zONE

*What is the impact? *

Patches will be transmitted to the affected areas. For some ADOs, reboots may occur depending upon the tags applied.

07/25/2024 - batCAVE Infrastructure Maintenance - PROD

*Summary*

In order to keep up to date with the latest versions and security advisories, the batCAVE PROD Infrastructure will be upgraded to the latest Gold Image and the nodes will be rotated. 

*Actions we are taking*

Update the AWS AMI Gold Image to the July 2024 image release by performing node rotations.

*When is this happening?*

Start Time: Thursday, 07/25/2024 at 9:00 p.m. ET.

End Time: Friday, 07/26/2024 at 2:59 a.m. ET.

*Who will be impacted?*

batCAVE ADO development teams and their users: FFSDCS, QMMS, SDL, DACS, CyberGeek, EPPE, eRPT, SIGNAL.

*What is the impact?* 

Customers should expect a short downtime as instances are restarted within the maintenance window.
