CMS Office of Minority Health Welcomes New Director

The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services Office of Minority Health (CMS OMH) would like to announce a new permanent director of the CMS Office of Minority Health and Chief Health Equity Officer for CMS.

We would like to welcome Martin Mendoza, Ph.D. [ https://www.cms.gov/priorities/health-equity/minority-health/about-cms-office-minority-health/leadership/leadership ], as the Chief Health Equity Officer at CMS and Director of the CMS Office of Minority Health (OMH. In this role, Dr. Mendoza leads OMH in its mission towards the advancement and integration of health equity in the development, evaluation, and implementation of CMS’s policies, programs, and partnerships.

Dr. Mendoza comes to CMS from his work as the first Director of Health Equity for the National Institutes of Health's (NIH) All of Us Research Program where he provided leadership and high-level expertise to improve inclusion and equity in precision medicine. Dr. Mendoza has also worked in the HHS Office of Minority Health, FDA, and additional NIH offices.

CMS would also like to thank our outgoing Acting Director, Dr. Aditi Mallick, for her service to CMS OMH and for her commitment and vision to further health equity across CMS programs and policies. We are grateful for her contributions and devotion to health equity and know we will continue to have great advancements together in her future work at CMS.
