Families & Caregivers at the Center
Families and Caregivers at the Center webinar
On October 29th at 2:30 pm ET, join the U.S Department of Labor and Ascend at the Aspen Institute for a special conversation, *"Families and Caregivers at the Center: Policies that Support Parents and Drive Economic Opportunity."*
*RSVP HERE [ https://www.tfaforms.com/5151591 ]*
As recently highlighted by the Department of Labor’s report "Child Care is Infrastructure [ https://www.dol.gov/sites/dolgov/files/WB/pdf/Child-Care-Is-Infrastructure-Issue-Brief.pdf ]", paid care work is a crucial foundation for the economy because it allows working parents and other caregivers to become and remain employed. When child care becomes inaccessible, labor force participation drops, with mothers experiencing the most negative effects.
In their conversation about this timely topic, Acting Secretary Su and Anne Mosle will draw on learnings from "Ascending with Parents: A Guide to Centering Parent Voice in Policy and Practice [ https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flinks-2.govdelivery.com%2FCL0%2Fhttps%3A%252F%252Fascend.aspeninstitute.org%252Fresources%252Fascending-with-parents-a-guide-to-centering-parent-voice-in-policy-and-practice%252F%2F1%2F01010192b5cae2f5-c03e069a-89b0-4581-963a-e6df3af50a60-000000%2FhkwabB7r8rSkM-I5TEk0UyAPS6Xob_IPvAQFZ3rK2HE%3D375&data=05%7C02%7CChilds.Arcynta.L%40dol.gov%7C0893a66c92ec4531ff1a08dcf4f327ea%7C75a6305472044e0c9126adab971d4aca%7C0%7C0%7C638654572415896801%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=Ls2mANPk1cfnpJuUCZyqMCwN5XmSLPVG4s11M4wzF%2F8%3D&reserved=0 ]" and the Department of Labor’s research and insights, followed by closing remarks by Jennifer Klein, Director of the White House Gender Policy Council.
How does uplifting caregivers and parents impact our wider workforce? What are the higher-level economic and social ramifications of policies that center families? What are the concrete programs we need to implement to make a real difference at a national, state, and local level?
*Please join us virtually for this important conversation from 2:30-4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29th.
