There’s still more than a week of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) to go! If you haven’t yet participated, there’s still time, and the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) offers a number of ways to do so.
To start, on Thursday, October 24 at 2:00 p.m. ET, tune into “Good Jobs Change Lives: Helping Disabled Workers Get Ahead [ https://www.dol.gov/agencies/odep/NDEAM2024Event ]”—an online event focused on how ODEP, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) at large and other federal agencies are working together to deliver on this year’s NDEAM theme, “Access to Good Jobs for All.”
Also, the 2024 NDEAM poster [ https://www.dol.gov/agencies/odep/initiatives/ndeam#:~:text=Video%20Descriptive%20Transcript-,NDEAM%20Poster%202023,-Download%20the%20poster ] is still available for download and mail order, in both English and Spanish [ https://www.dol.gov/agencies/odep/initiatives/ndeam/spanish#:~:text=para%20NDEAM%202023.-,Cartel%20NDEAM%202023,-Descargue%C2%A0el%20cartel ]. Both versions are also customizable, so organizations can insert their name or logo and, if desired, different photos.
Other resources include a brief video about the campaign [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-_NPgJ4Nvs ], key messages and social media graphics [ https://www.dol.gov/agencies/odep/initiatives/ndeam/key-messages ], and shareable spotlights [ https://www.dol.gov/agencies/odep/initiatives/ndeam/spotlights ] honoring past and current disability employment leaders. The NDEAM webpage also offers ideas for how to participate [ https://www.dol.gov/agencies/odep/initiatives/ndeam#:~:text=Plan%20NDEAM%20Observances ], with specific lists for employers and employees, educators and youth service professionals, policymakers, disability-related organizations, associations and unions, and federal agencies.
Of course, a commitment to disability inclusion doesn’t end in October. For ideas on how to advance the spirit of this year’s theme—"Access to Good Jobs for All"—"every" month, learn about year-round employer strategies for advancing disability inclusion [ https://www.dol.gov/agencies/odep/initiatives/ndeam/year-round ].
