Lead by Example

It’s important for organizations to build trust and for workers to know that you care about their well-being. Organizations should have flexible, supportive workplace practices and services that promote good mental health.

The Department of Labor has joined the Total Worker Health Program of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health [ https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/twh/index.html ], which works to improve workers’ safety, health, and well-being through collaborations and partnerships between government agencies, labor, industry, non-governmental organizations, and academia.

DOL is promoting a Total Worker Health approach and prioritizing mental health and wellness for our employees through several initiatives that:

* Provide workers with information about mental conditions
* Share best practices for creating a supportive environment
* Give tools to help employees seek care if they are experiencing a mental health challenge

This includes our Employee Assistance Program, which offers free in-person and virtual counseling, fitness programs, resources on childcare and parenting, and more!
